340B

340B is a drug pricing program of the Public Health Service Act that requires pharmaceutical companies contracted with Medicaid to sell medications at a discounted price to community health centers for distribution. Average savings on pharmaceuticals can range from 25-50%, allowing often under-funded health centers to afford pricey medications, and to use savings to cover the cost of providing care to un- or under-insured clients. 340B is an essential program for health centers to be able to make use of limited resources to serve vulnerable populations.

Cost-benefit analyses demonstrate the efficacy of 340B programming, and yet, it is under constant threats of funding cuts across the states.

The National LGBTQ+ Healthcare Alliance aims to lobby for a legislative intervention either federally or state by state to protect this essential program.
